What do racist e-mails about Presiden Obama have to do with the (now-hopefully forgotten) mad cow saga that afflicted farmers in Alberta? It turns out they both involve the Federal judge who once decided, that despite the US Dept. of Agriculture's approval of Alberta's beef, to issue an injunction against the lifting of trade restrictions on Alberta's beef at the behest of an American ranchers' association (well ok, they brought a formal motion in court). The injunction was vacated very shortly after on appeal, and the rest is history. That was almost eight years ago.
Then today (well a few days ago), I read that the same judge had decided to retire, because he had forwarded some racist e-mails concerning the President. It turns out there may be even more. (h/t ABA Journal)
