Driverless cars are coming soon. This will radically change many of our laws. First of all, the laws of traffic will switch from penalizing humans to penalizing machines and their manufacturers (and programmers which could include the drivers). But with flawless driving, the police will no longer be able to rely on the classic indicia of suspicion, such as 'the driver was weaving through traffic' or 'the driver did not indicate a left signal' etc. ... which leads to a stop ... which leads to a search or dig sniff search (or not search depending on which side of the border you live). It means that there will be new indicia of suspicion created that the courts will have to opine on their legality.
