A busy-body councillor from the centre of the universe Toronto is all upset about Lucy the elephant. This is a councillor from a city that can't even get its act together with garbage collection, snow removal (anyone recall when they called the army in), or any other basic services. But, he has the temerity to lecture us on how to conduct our business. Maybe when you stop throwing your garbage on the streets, we will think about what you have to say.
On another note, mayor Ford is cleared to run again, after the judge who disqualified clarified his ruling. I do find the Act that mandated disqualification a bit anti-democratic, but I can see the logic behind it. Too bad, other mayors who face criminal charges don't suffer the same fate. And, yes, I realize that mayor is innocent till proven guilty. I just think the municipal governance structure is odd, when someone gets turfed for $3,000 worth of a conflict of interest (with no evidence of personal material gain), while another is charged and stays on.
